Issue 9 – The Hall Happenings 11 June 2025
Principal’s Messages
Dear Families and Caregivers,
As we move into the final weeks of Term 2, I’d like to thank our families for your ongoing support and partnership. It has been quite busy at school and it won’t slow down until the end of term! We have begun our end-of-semester assessment period, with students engaging in important tasks that will inform their Semester 1 report cards. Our Year 5 students are currently enjoying their camp at The Capricorn Caves, where they are taking part in rich learning experiences that align closely with the Year 5 curriculum. We’re also thrilled to share that our brand-new adventure playground is now complete, and students will be introduced to this exciting new space throughout the week in a safe and structured way.
We’re excited to invite parents and caregivers to explore our new adventure playground this week when collecting students on Wednesday and Friday afternoon until 4:00pm. Please note that parent supervision is required during this time, as staff will not be available. The equipment is designed for primary-aged students, so families with toddlers will need to be hands-on to ensure their safety. Thank you for your patience throughout the build and for sharing in the excitement as our students begin enjoying this fantastic new space!
Looking ahead to Week 10, we have several significant events to finish the term on a high. Our whole-school PBL rewards party will be on the Tuesday, our Athletics Carnival will be held on Wednesday, followed by the Outstanding Achievers Assembly on Thursday, where we celebrate students who have demonstrated excellence across our school expectations of Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible and Be a Learner. We will conclude the term with our NAIDOC Week celebrations on Friday, honouring the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Thank you for your continued involvement and support in making Term 2 a meaningful and engaging time for all students.
Working Together: Strengthening the Home–School Partnership
At The Hall State School, we believe that strong relationships between home and school are key to every student’s success. When we work together with shared expectations and consistent messages, we create a safe, supportive environment where all children can thrive.
Our school expectations – Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be a Learner – guide everything we do. These values are most powerful when echoed at home, helping students understand that learning and positive behaviour are valued everywhere in their lives.
We ask for your support in reinforcing the following shared expectations:
- Attendance matters – every day counts. Regular attendance builds strong routines and ensures continuity in learning.
- Uniform expectations – wearing the correct school uniform supports pride, belonging, and readiness to learn.
- Positive behaviour – we work with students to understand and reflect on their choices. Your support in reinforcing respectful behaviour at home makes a big difference.
- Learning together – showing interest in your child’s learning, attending meetings with teachers, and talking about learning goals helps build motivation and confidence.
We are committed to open, respectful communication and value your role as partners in learning. If you have questions, concerns, or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out respectfully to our team. Together, we can ensure every child has the best chance to succeed.
Thank you for your continued support in helping make The Hall State School a place where every student can feel safe, respected, responsible, and ready to learn.
Staying Warm and in Uniform – A Reminder for Families
As the cooler weather arrives, we’d like to remind our school community about the importance of wearing the correct school uniform each day. Our uniform policy reflects our school expectations of Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be a Learner, and helps promote a strong sense of pride and belonging among all students.
To support our expectations during the winter months, please ensure your child is wearing:
- The school spray jacket, available from the uniform shop, is preferred or
- A plain navy jumper or jacket – no hoods or branding
- Navy leggings or navy track pants
- Black school shoes and navy socks
- Full school uniform must still be worn underneath all outerwear
Wearing the correct uniform each day is a way students can:
- Be Safe by avoiding hazards like hoodies catching on equipment, hampering play or inappropriate footwear
- Be Respectful of our school community by following shared expectations
- Be Responsible for presenting themselves with pride and being ready for learning
- Be a Learner by minimising distractions and feeling part of the team
We appreciate your ongoing support in helping students come to school dressed for success. If you require support with uniform items, please contact the Uniform Shop at uniform@thehalls.eq.edu.au
Kind regards,
Mrs Katie Bull

Instrumental Music – Combined Schools Ensemble Workshop
The sounds of instruments filled the air at the Allenstown State School hall recently as members of our Junior String Ensemble joined their peers from several other state primary schools in our district for an enriching afternoon of music making.
At the Combined Schools Ensemble Workshop on Tuesday 27th May, our students enjoyed the opportunity to develop their performance skills in a large ensemble setting. Our string students were guided through three pieces – “Celtic Dance”, “Charleston” and “Bile ‘em Cabbage” – with a focus upon “looking, feeling and listening” during their performances. The development of positive friendships and teamwork was also encouraged through participation in several active learning activities.
“I enjoyed the workshop because we learnt how to play our instrument as a fiddle and we learnt how to line dance. I also enjoyed playing music with people I didn’t know” Lincoln
“I liked when we did the line dancing and when we played Posture Imposter and Bow Detective. It was so fun!” Chelsea
“I enjoyed all of the little games. I also enjoyed that we got to meet new people.” Candice
“The workshop was so much fun. We practised music, played games and bonded with our friends and with other schools.” Olivia
“I enjoyed playing the Bile ‘em Cabbage fast and I met some new friends. Eleanor
Thank you to Mr Lachlan Moore, Principal of Allenstown State School, for allowing us to use the Allenstown State School hall for this event and thank you to our parents/carers for continuing to positively support our students’ participation in Instrumental Music. Well done stringies!
