Principal’s Messages
Welcome to our Week 4 Newsletter!
It’s hard to believe we are already in Week 4 of Term 3! Across the school, students have been engaging in formative assessment tasks aligned to their current English units. These assessments help teachers gather valuable information about each student’s understanding so far, and guide what comes next in the teaching and learning cycle.
As a staff, we moderate these formative assessments together, ensuring consistency and accuracy, and use the insights to refine our teaching plans for the weeks ahead. This also allows us to give students timely, targeted feedback to help them take the next steps in their learning. We encourage you to ask your child about their current English learning goal—you might be surprised at how clearly they can explain what they’re working on! Families are also invited to check out the English learning walls in classrooms, which show the learning journey students are taking as they move toward their end-of-term assessment.
Staffing News
We would also like to share some staffing news. Sandra Nankivell, a much-loved and highly valued member of our teaching team, has been successful in gaining a transfer to Emu Park State School, commencing in Term 4. While we will greatly miss Sandra’s warmth, professionalism, and dedication, we are excited for her new opportunity and know she will make a positive impact in her new school community.
We are also pleased to welcome Miss Peyton Cordell to our staff in Term 4. We look forward to supporting both Sandra and Peyton as they begin this new chapter in their careers.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in your child’s learning journey.
Kind regards,
Mrs Katie Bull

From The Deputy
Attendance at The Hall State School is a high priority. As a school we are maintaining a consistent attendance rate of 88%. Deeper analysis indicates this attendance data could be further improved given the number of students who arrive after 9:00am or are collected before 3:00pm.
Whole day attendance ensures your child access the full curriculum. Teachers carefully timetable and structure their days/weeks to optimise learning. Regular late arrivals/early departures often means the student misses an entire learning area, interrupts the teaching and learning of other students, and causes additional workload for staff as they reschedule lessons to accommodate irregular arrival/departure times.
Thirty minutes per day adds up very quickly. Thirty minutes per day adds up to 4 weeks of school missed over the course of a single school year.
We recognise the difficulty in accessing medical and other appointments outside school hours and understand that this may occasionally result in late arrivals/early departures. Many parents who have these arrangements have already consulted with the school.
Over the coming weeks we ask parents to ensure students are arriving on time for a 9:00am start and are engaged in learning for the entirety of the school day. If you are having difficulty routinely arriving before 9:00am, or the need to consistently collect before 3:00pm please contact the office to see if any additional supports can be put in place to support whole day participation.
